Training
R Us... My March 30 Dispatch, Trammell,
Lincoln and KPMG Are Serious About Training, sparked some
interesting comments. ... Craig
Stevens at CB Richard
Ellis writes. "CBRE
has a similar budget [to
Trammell Crow's $600-700,000] allocated for affecting massive change
management and implementation of the SiteStuff e-procurement
initiative within the Property Management and Facility Management
divisions. After working out initial issues with
our Early Adopter groups Oct-Jan, we launched a massive registration
effort February 1 across the whole company and have over 1,000 properties
and 950 people registered. About one-half have completed the on-line
training course and are now buying on line. By
April 15, we will have registered 90% of total properties and people
-- nearly 8,500 buildings/sites and 1,500 people." Cynthia Mercer, VP, Training & Organizational Development at Oakwood Worldwide, a provider of corporate housing, writes, "Oakwood Worldwide ... began a technical evolution approximately ten months ago. Installing local and wide area networks, we were able to instantly link our more than 3,000 employees nationwide. ... In an effort to increase the proficiency of a large and geographically dispersed employee base, Oakwood University, the organization's internal corporate university, engaged in online learning. Oakwood contracted with SmartForce for the purchase of 20 courses... With a front-page look and feel of Oakwood, employees are able to take beginning to advanced courses anytime, anywhere. With SmartForce's site hosting all of the existing online learning, Oakwood University is able to track attendance, completion and scores of all online learning participants. The program costs approximately $60 per employee annually and includes unlimited participation." ... The April 3, 2001 Business 2.0 includes an article on SmartForce, "A Quick Study in E-Learning." ... I'll continue training coverage in next Friday's Dispatch. Thanks! --Peter / ppike@pikenet.com |
