Bet That Headline Got Your Attention ... Yep, last week I received e-mail from two corporate real estate managers at Fortune 500 companies seeking advice on portfolio management systems. How do the various products compare? What "solution" is best? Which companies will prosper in the future? Below, you'll see excerpts from their e-mails. How would you answer their questions? Let me know. I'll report more in future Dispatches. Company #1 ... with a portfolio of over 500 facilities and more than 10 million square feet: "I am currently in the process of evaluating potential portfolio management/lease administration systems to replace our current real estate system, a client-server application ... Can you direct me to a "public source," e.g., a web site, that has evaluated corporate real estate systems in a Consumer Reports type fashion? For example, performance evaluations, comparison of features, functionality, etc." [Stay tuned for future Gomez/PikeNet reports on web site performance.] Company #2 ... with over 8 million square feet: "I 'volunteered' to find a process management and reporting solution that would reduce 'friction' in our organization. Right now we have nothing. ... The solution I am looking for would ideally be an intranet-based process management and reporting tool that we would own and support and would be able to grow with our changing organization and ever-evolving technology. I realize that there are existing web-based solutions but I am skeptical about the long-term viability of these companies and their ability to meet our own specific and changing needs." Spread the Word! ... For $.05 per reader, you can tell folks like these your story. Here's the math. There are 10,700 Dispatch subscribers (including Company #1 and Company #2 above). On average, my guess is that each issue is forwarded once, which means that about 20,000 different people see it. So at the multiple Dispatch rate that's a nickel per reader. Interested?
