Psst, Where's the Best Place to Find a Job?

Real Estate Job Listings on the Web... Hey, a lot of you folks are thinking about changing jobs. At least, that's my assumption because each month more people go to the Jobs Channel than any other "Channel" at PikeNet -- 1,500 to 2,000 times. If you go to the PikeNet Jobs Channel, you'll see three categories of sites -- Company Positions (individual pages within corporate and association sites), Executive Recruiters (specializing in real estate) and Job Web Sites (job listings). A quick glance through Company Positions highlighted Equity Office and CoStar Group, both of which enable you to apply online. In the Executive Recruiters category, you'll find fifteen companies whose web design ranges between "the good, the bad and the ugly."

There are many "portal" sites vying to develop the definitive one-stop shop for real estate jobs. You'll find ten of them in the Job Web Sites category. ... LenderCareers, the official job board of the heavyweight Mortgage Bankers Association, aims to be definitive site for the lending industry. ... SelectLeaders, a new joint venture between Equinox Partners and ULI, seeks to build "the Career Connection for the real estate industry." ... Jobsite.com, which is related to Crown Advisors, boasts over 400 jobs currently available in the "real estate, construction, real estate finance and A/E industry." ... Real-Jobs was designed by Norm Miller of the University of Cincinnati Real Estate Department. ... The Real Estate Job Store boasts over 500 "current jobs."

Which real estate job sites do you like? And how about the generic job sites like Monster.com? Holy cow, I just went to Monster.com (Friday, October 26, 2001) and noticed that Countrywide Home Loans recently posted two-dozen openings for regional property managers "responsible for REO inventory analysis." Uh-oh. Are workouts coming back?
