News and Views..."So how did I get started writing a blog? Easy. ... My son Jeff convinced me it is the best way to personally communicate with you." That's Roger Staubach introducing his new blog, Monday Morning CEO. Launched in September, Staubach has now blogged for six weeks about a wide range of subjects -- The Staubach Company ("In addition to real estate savings, our teams..."), the NFL ("It was a tough day for Dallas...") and NASCAR ("Hall of Fame Racing announced..."). Nothing edgy or inflammatory. (He's not Mark Cuban!) Just personal comments about passions from a team leader. But that's a lot more insight than provided by any other major real estate CEO. Am I wrong?
If blogging isn't wild enough, how about podcasting? Yep, Starboard TCN Worldwide Commercial in San Francisco is now podcasting its weekly "Hot Properties," including new listings in the market, vacancy rates and building sales. (Starboard already publishes a blog.) Full Disclosure... Prior to tuning into Starboard's podcast, I had never listened to one. (I do not own an iPod.) To listen to a podcast, you need a "podcatcher" (who knew?), which you can download easily. I installed FeedDemon. Now I get it. Podcasting is for mobile warriors. You listen to it while driving or walking around. You normally don't listen to a podcast sitting at your desk. Do Dispatch readers listen to podcasts? Subscribers Wanted... Do you have a colleague who would like to read the Dispatch? It's easy. Sign up on the home page of PikeNet. Just enter an e-mail address and click "Subscribe." Or send me an Excel file of multiple names. Thanks! -- Peter Pike |
