RE BackOffice Formula: Scalable, Flexible, Cost-Efficient

Profiting in the Future... Are you energetic and ambitious? Yes, of course! But as Fareed Zakaria recently wrote, "No worker from a rich country will ever be able to equal the energy and ambition of people ... trying desperately to move out of poverty." (Newsweek, June 12, 2006)

That's why my conversation last week with RE BackOffice's CEO, Finn Johnson, resonates so strongly in my mind.

I may be stretching the thought a bit. But in its essence, RE BackOffice harnesses the (metaphoric!) hunger of its Indian staff to make you (and themselves) more money. It's a win-win relationship.

From its headquarters in Pittsburgh, Finn's staff coordinates the rapid delivery of "scalable, flexible and cost-efficient" services, exactly the same services that your internal operations require every day -- like marketing, research and technology support.

What do you need? A spreadsheet analysis? A new building web site? A lease abstracted? A virtual building model? RE BackOffice provides a price list for all the above and promises turn-around times between 24 and 72 hours.

According to Finn, no company in the U.S. could afford to build the expertise and depth that RE BackOffice is developing in India. (And, even if it could, the cost would be prohibitive.)

Currently, RE BackOffice employs 52 people in Mumbai, India. (Next month it moves into new space that will accommodate 250 people.) When you're sleeping, they'll be working hard to achieve their (and your) ambitions. As Thomas Friedman says, "The world is flat."
