1. Headline... "Maps on the Web: From Novelty to Commodity." A rush of innovation from mapping, search engine and directory companies has made Web maps almost commodities. Written by David Peterson, this excellent article features links to a dazzling collection of resources.

2. New and Notable... LaSalle Partners' gorgeous new site features flashing images and color coordinated specialty areas. PM Realty's terrific opening page shows off rotating logo images of its major clients and a moving headline. CRE_NET, GE Capital's new listing service, is online with over 200 properties nationwide, but limited search capabilities. The Price REIT specializes in national warehouse-anchored power centers. Beacon Properties is a REIT with a concentration of office buildings in Boston.

Carey Winston, providing commercial brokerage services in Northern Virginia, uses frames to describe its listings in different submarkets. ARGUS Financial Software's superb 5-star site can serve as a model of how to promote interactivity with customers. The Western Group, based in Atlanta and Mosow, provides extensive research on the Moscow market. The Real Estate Forum steps into the electronic age with Real Estate Forum Online. *Find these sites by entering a complete or partial word in the text search box on the home page.*

3. Oops... Studley ran a full page advertisement on page 7 of Monday's Wall Street Journal without mentioning their attractive web site, not even in small print at the bottom. They did include their e-mail address, and, yes, they did mention their commitment to learning more about "the impact of technology on real estate." Marketing, please meet MIS.

4. PikeNet Changes... New Categories were added this week, including Asset Management, REIT-Residential, Broker-International, Business Park/Mixed Use and Exchange Related. In a major change, we are assigning sites to only one category, the one which best reflects a company's prime business.

5. Subscribing and Canceling... If you do not want to receive this Dispatch, please reply with "cancel" in the Message field to remove your name. If you know a person who would like to be added to this list, please send me an e-mail with the word "subscribe." Please include your name and company.
