1. NEW AND NOTABLE. The REMM Group provides property management and technology consulting services in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. COMMREX Florida is a listing service sponsored by the Florida CCIM chapter which features a powerful database. TRI Financial Corporation, based in San Francisco, specializes in multifamily and senior housing financing and is one of the largest FHA lenders. The J. Walter Michel Agency, Inc. provides commercial real estate and management services in Jacksonville, Mississippi. Ari Feldman, a CCIM broker in Mexico City, posts valuable legal and cultural information on doing business in Mexico. Link Systems provides real estate facility management software and consulting nationwide in U.S. Maps On Us, a new entrant in the mapping field from Lucent Technologies, enables you to customize your own personal map. Creative Real Estate On-Line features an interesting collection of resources to stimulate your thinking on dealmaking. 2. SURPLUS PROPERTIES. This week I received an e-mail from Walter Imperatore, General Manager of Calet Properties, the real estate division of Computer Associates. Calet markets surplus properties at its web site which led to the idea of creating a list of all corporate sites which market surplus properties. It's pretty short list right now, but this should change. To access this list, click the hyperlink "Surplus Properties" toward the top right of PikeNet's home page. In addition to Computer Associates, you'll find links to Fleming and Marathon Oil. If you know of other sites that should be on this list, send me e-mail. 3. ADVERTISING BANNERS. Want to promote your web site? Buy a Top Level Banner at PikeNet and over 1,500 persons will see you banner next month. Or buy a banner ad over your Market Area or Toolkit. For example, banners over New York, Boston and Los Angeles are available. 4. WEB SUCCESS. . Caltrans, California's Department of Transportation, has listed its surplus properties on the web for a year using the Commercial Real Estate Marketplace (CREM) database developed by Pacific Ridge Data Resources. Recently Pacific Ridge received a letter from Caltrans which included the following: "Our sales ads on the Internet have been a great success. Several of our bidders (including one high bidder) in Sale 4 came from the Internet." If you have a web success story, please e-mail me. 5. SITE OF THE WEEK. Sam Zell's Equity Office, which owns 120 Properties in 48 urban and suburban markets across the U.S., launched its web site in December. It will be interesting how this visionary carves out a position in the "cyberspace land rush." 6. WEB GROWTH. From the January 8, 1997, Wall Street Journal, "The word 'web' is included in more than 1,000 U.S. trademarks, up from 29 in 1994, according to Lexicon Branding Inc., a San Francisco name-consulting firm." 7. SUBSCRIBING/CANCELING. If you do not want to receive this Dispatch, please reply with "cancel" in the Message field to remove your name. Please include your name and company. If you know a person who would like to be added to this list, please send e-mail with the word "subscribe" to Peter Pike at . --Peter Pike |
