1. Leggat McCall Moves Quickly with FirstLine... Need to get a project up and running quickly on the web? If so, outsource... That's the philosophy of Leggat McCall Properties, a Boston developer. Norb Callahan writes, "We are using an outsourced extranet product called 'FirstLine' from Collaborative Structures in Boston. The fact that the application is outsourced meant that LMP did not have to dedicate additional capital or human resources to get the site up and running. We were also able to make things happen much more quickly than if we were to develop a solution internally. Rentable applications appeal to the 'get things done' real estate entrepreneur who isn't concerned about how it gets done -- as long as it fulfills his needs." ... You can read more about project management web applications in a Boston Globe article (June 16, 1999) by clicking here.

2. Synch Your Palm Pilot on the Web... I've written before about web sites that enable you to create private web sites (intranets and extranets) quickly, like HotOffice and MyEvents.

Here's a new entrant, Visto. You can quickly create a web site for your colleagues and clients (How about all the tenants in your building?). You can create group calendars, track appointments, create private subgroups and access e-mail from different accounts in one place. All of this web-based information can be synchronized with your desktop (and with third party software) with your Palm Pilot. I don't have a Palm Pilot (sorry!), so I didn't go through all the steps of uploading, downloading and synchronizing, but it sounds pretty extraordinary... I've posted step-by-step directions in the Web Related section of PikeNet's Web Resources (left-hand column of home page).
